Children’s Chapel will focus on families! Our book this week is called “We are Family” and was published last year!
I want to better get to know your family at the start of this school year- and is there a better time to focus on families than the start of a new program year? We will ask children to draw a picture of whoever they call family- if could be the people they live with, pets, “grownups”, family friends, or something else entirely!
Instead of staying “parents” we try to say “grownups” to best describe our diverse families. We often say “find your grownups after Children’s Chapel” because a variety of people bring kids to church, grandparents, cousins, neighbors, friends… we want to use the most inclusive language we can so we say grownups.
Car Questions for Children’s Chapel:
What did you do in chapel today? (Don’t worry if they don’t know- ask them how they felt about chapel instead)
Do you remember who you drew a picture of?
What’s the best part of being apart of our family?
